The Female Runner course addresses the unique challenges of assessing and treating injured runners, with a special focus on female athletes. Participants will receive clinically actionable information about the best practices in the field, emphasizing skills that can be applied immediately. The course features a blend of live and self-paced online components, offering both flexibility and comprehensive learning. Through detailed case studies, participants will gain valuable insights to elevate their practice and improve outcomes for female runners.
Audience
This course is for anyone interested in working with and helping runners. Special emphasis will be given to the female athlete. Physical therapists and athletic trainers can claim CEU credit upon completion of this course.
BOC approved for AT credit and for PT by state approved agencies
Course dates and locations
This course is all online. Join from the comfort of your home or office March 1 through April 12, 2025 with weekly learning assignments and live meetings.
Attendees will progress as a cohort through 6-weeks of learning. Each week attendees will be presented with asynchronous lecture material to be completed at their own pace. Then we'll come together as a group on a live video call and discuss the material, ask questions, and participate in a virtual lab session. It will be fun!

Speaker
Shefali Christopher, PT, DPT, PhD, SCS, LAT, ATC
Dr. Christopher serves primarily as an Associate Professor at Tufts University, School of Medicine, Public Health and Community Medicine. She received her PhD in Biomechanics from The University of Newcastle in Australia in 2021. Before that, she earned her DPT at Duke University in 2008. In addition to being on Faculty at Tufts University, she maintains an active role in APTA and serves as the Vice Chair for the AASPT Running Special Interest Group, and the Publication Chair for the AASPT Female Athlete SIG. Her clinical passion lies in treating endurance athletes. She enjoys evaluating faulty swimming, biking, and running mechanics as well as performing bike fit evaluations and is currently serving on USAT Paratriathlon Team. She has spoken nationally and internationally on running, biomechanics, and the female athlete. Her research focuses on postpartum athletes returning to their sport safely and she has a growing list of publications
